Is there Uber in Dhërmi?
No. Uber does not operate anywhere in Albania, and the ride-hailing apps that do work in the country do not cover Dhërmi or the Albanian Riviera. In Dhërmi you book a taxi the direct way — a phone call or a WhatsApp message to a local driver.
The short answer
There is no Uber in Albania at all — not in Tirana, not on the coast, nowhere. It is one of the few European countries Uber has never launched in, so there is no point downloading the app before you travel.
Ride-hailing does exist in Albania, but only in the cities. Bolt runs in Tirana, and local taxi apps serve a few of the larger towns. Open any of them in Dhërmi, Himarë or Vuno and you will find no drivers, because none of them cover the Riviera villages.
That is not a gap in the market so much as a matter of scale. These are small villages on one winding coast road. The taxis here are independent local operators, and you reach them the same way you would reach any local business: you phone, or you send a message.
What works where in Albania
App coverage changes, so check in the app for your own location — but this is the picture at the time of writing.
Uber — nowhere in Albania
Uber has never operated in Albania. The app will show no cars in Tirana and none on the Riviera.
Bolt — Tirana and some cities
Bolt works in Tirana and a handful of larger towns. It does not cover Dhërmi, Himarë or the coast road between them.
Local taxis — the Riviera
Along the coast, taxis are independent operators booked directly. That is us: call or send a WhatsApp message and we confirm the vehicle and the price.
Pre-booked transfers — airports and long trips
For Tirana airport or an intercity drive, a transfer arranged in advance is the normal way it is done here, with or without apps.
So how do I get a taxi in Dhërmi?
You message or call. Send where you are, where you are going and when, and you get back the vehicle, the price and the pickup arrangement before anything is fixed. In practice that is faster than an app, because you are talking to the driver rather than to a dispatch system.
WhatsApp is what most visitors use. It works before you arrive in the country, it costs nothing from abroad, it lets you send a location pin when an address is hard to describe, and it keeps the arrangement in writing so you can check it later.
The one habit worth adopting: book ahead rather than expecting a car to appear. There is no fleet circling the village waiting for a ping. In July and August, even a few hours' notice makes a real difference to whether a vehicle is free.
What an app would have done for you — and what replaces it
Seeing the price up front
You get a price when you book, before you travel. Ask for it in the first message and it comes back with the confirmation.
Knowing the car is coming
You have the driver's own number. You can message the person who is driving to you, not a support queue.
Not speaking the language
Bookings are handled in English and Albanian. WhatsApp also means you can write rather than speak.
Paying without cash
Tell us how you would prefer to pay when you book and we will tell you what is possible for your journey.

Frequently asked questions
Is there Uber in Albania?
No. Uber does not operate in Albania at all, in any city. Searching for it in Tirana or on the Riviera returns nothing, so there is no reason to install the app for a trip here.
Does Bolt work in Dhërmi?
No. Bolt covers Tirana and some larger towns, but not Dhërmi, Himarë, Vuno or the Riviera coast road. App coverage does change, so it is worth opening the app once you arrive — but do not plan your transport around it.
Is there a taxi app for the Albanian Riviera?
Not one that covers the Riviera villages. Taxis here are independent local operators that you book directly by phone or WhatsApp. That is how everyone, including Albanians, arranges a ride on this coast.
How do I get a taxi in Dhërmi without an app?
Call or send a WhatsApp message with your pickup point, destination, date, time and number of passengers. You will get a reply confirming the vehicle and the price before the journey is booked.
Is there a taxi rank in Dhërmi?
There is no permanent rank you can rely on. Cars are sometimes waiting near the beach road in high season, but the dependable approach is to arrange a pickup in advance rather than going out to look for one.
Can I get a taxi from Tirana airport with an app?
Ride-hailing exists in Tirana, but it is not set up for a long transfer down to the Riviera, and it will not bring you to Dhërmi. For the airport run, a transfer booked in advance against your flight number is the normal arrangement.
No app needed
Send a WhatsApp message or call, and we will confirm the vehicle and the price.
